Chakra Yoga MP3s – Guided Walkthroughs

Below are the guided chakra walkthroughs that I mentioned in the 21 Ways to Care for Your Sacral Chakra post, plus a couple extra (and for those of you interested in that post, I added a note on Kegels – yes, Kegels! – to #9.) A few notes:

- The reason I wanted to do these as recordings is so that a transmission can (hopefully) occur, which is how most of us best learn this stuff – connecting mind to mind, beyond language. I am doing the techniques as I talk, and the idea is that this will help you better connect to your own chakras. Although I also talk about the chakras during the walkthroughs, I am never dropping my chakra focus, so just keep your own chakra focus and hopefully the talking will not get too bothersome!

- I call these chakra ‘yoga’ instead of chakra ‘meditation’ because they are very active visual and sensory techniques. Even if you already have a meditation practice, these are a great clearing and preparatory technique, just as physical yoga is a preparatory technique for formal sitting meditation.

- I wanted to expand a bit on the distinction I made in the 2nd Chakra Motherhood and Creating post between chakra healing vs. spiritual techniques. I think the chakras are best discussed as mind-body-spirit intersection points. When doing healing work you are usually pulling energy from the spiritual/energetic realm through the mind/awareness level into the physical body, i.e. the movement is spirit->mind->body. In what we’ll call ’spiritual’ techniques such as what I’m doing in these recordings, you are moving in the opposite direction, i.e. body->mind->spirit. Focusing on a physical location helps you connect with the state of awareness associated with the chakra in that area, and that in turn allows you to go through the doorway of that chakra into spiritual planes it connects with.
(And I don’t really like to talk in terms of spiritual planes, because it implies something separate from reality, but I am trying to use terms everyone is familiar with.)

- I don’t know much about digital audio files, so if  you have problems with these let me know. From what I understand, you should be able to just click on them to play them from your computer, or right click and do a ’save page as’ to download them. On some computers you may have to start playing them first and then do a ’save as’.

Chakra Yoga MP3s

7 Chakra Cycling, 9 minutes – Technique for cycling through all 7 chakras to awaken the kundalini and move the energy up through them into the upper chakras (the traditional focus of chakra meditation techniques.)

7 Chakra Lotus Variation, 4 1/2 minutes – A variation on the first technique, but with a lotus blossom pictured in the 2nd chakra, which is particularly relevant for women.

4 Chakra Core Meditation, 11 minutes – A classic core chakra meditation technique using the navel, heart, third eye and crown chakras. Time in each chakra can be expanded to make a longer meditation.

Bliss Bubble, 3 1/2 minutes – Visualization designed to awaken a uniquely feminine ‘bliss’ energy, activated through the 2nd and heart chakras.

Protection Visualization, 3 1/2 minutes – Visualization for learning how to use the navel chakra energy to create an energetic shield. Note that in the 21 ways post I described a red sphere of light, and I didn’t use that in this recording (I just used white), but you can use red or red-orange if you like, as that has a martial flavor.

Please feel free to leave any comments, questions or requests for other techniques in the comments.

I never really considered this a teaching blog, but these recordings were made from my ‘teaching’ aspect, so I wanted to offer a traditional blessing at the end, customary in many traditions, but particularly Buddhist ones:

May these recordings represent light, power, and truth.

May they serve to empower, enlighten and awaken all who listen.

And, just to help you connect energetically even more, here is where they were made:

Thanks to all of you, I hope they are helpful. Let me know if you have specific questions or needs – this material is my favorite thing to discuss.

Caroline – FYI – these are similar to some of the chakra techniques we did in the workshop your friend Debbie attended. I will probably email that whole group later this week with the link, but it you see her (and this) first, feel free to let her know they are up. Thanks!

  9. Amy Jewell / Cirklagirl Says:

This is SO COOL, Lisa! I love that you are experimenting with audio lately. I will definitely give this a try!

  10. Amy Jewell / Cirklagirl Says:

    Can I download these?

  11. mommymystic Says:

Amy, you should be able to download them. You can either click on them to start playing and then just do a ’save page as’, or on some computers you can just right click and ’save as’ right away. Let me know if this doesn’t work, because I put them up as this type of link instead of an embedded player because I understood that then people would have the ability to download them….but I am still learning this stuff….

  12. Alexis Ahrens Says:

Thank you Lisa! I just did the 4 Chakra core meditation to your soothing voice and it was lovely! This is right in line with my current meditation practice, and your specific visualizations add even greater power. I love both of the 3rd eye visuals for clarity and expansiveness. I felt both of them during the meditation. This was, indeed, a transmission! I feel grateful to be connected to you. Many thanks for all you’ve put into this beautiful collection of wisdom!
    Namaste,
    Alexis

  13. Paul Maurice Martin Says:

My disability keeps me from doing audio so please disregard my comment if I’m off topic, but about that “uniquely feminine bliss energy” – is it anything like this:

One of the two primary kinds of experiences I’ve had meditating felt like outpouring waves of love, one after another and yet directed at no particular or identifiable object – at everything or nothing. You might say that it was a feeling of “I Am Love.” It was truly ecstatic, and this experience is behind much of my understanding of love’s nature.

A guy in touch with his feminine side?
A masculine version of feminine bliss?
    Is spirituality necessarily gendered?

  14. mommymystic Says:

Paul, I’m glad you brought this up, because ultimately I DON’T think spirituality is gendered, and I DO think we all have to connect to both our feminine and masculine sides (or yin and yang) to experience the wholeness beyond those divisions. In fact, for years I rejected the entire idea of ‘women’s spirituality’ for exactly that reason, and no one was more surprised than myself when that view started to change and I ended up writing so much about it. And it’s so hard to discuss these things in words. Your description is so beautiful, to me that is universal love, or knowing ourselves as love, and of course it is bliss.
What I have found is that women and men tend to have different psychological or ego issues to work through on their paths. Of course many are the same, because ego is ego, but there are different issues that crop up more often in one or other gender (which may disappear over time, because they may all be culturally relative.) I also have perceived that men and women tend to have different energetic issues, and different energetic strengths, and that means different kinds of practices, particularly different meditation forms, may be more relevant for one gender over the other. That has been lost in many traditions because they were primarily carried on by men for so long. Of course, meditation techniques are just techniques – they aren’t the end game, they are just meant to help us get there. But just like each religion offers a different path to the top of the mountain, different meditation techniques do too, and we each may be suited to one more than others (the important thing is to be willing to let go of any attachment to the technique or religion once it’s gotten us to our ‘destination’.)
So, my work with the chakras has become somewhat centered on that idea. I think the 2nd chakra is different in men and women (and wrote about this in depth in the 2nd chakra series, so won’t belabor it here), and that learning how to use that as part of meditation can be useful to many women. I haven’t written about it in men only because I think most of the traditional chakra writing covers that. And I think there is a uniquely feminine bliss ‘doorway’ in the 2nd chakra that women experience a little bit differently. At a certain point that becomes irrelevant – if you go through the doorway, it’s all love! But this doorway is just one other path there.
Not sure if that is clear or not, maybe will try again in a full post.

  15. Uzma Says:

Thank you, will work with these.

    God bless

  16. Paul Maurice Martin Says:

I’ve never read about chakras, so while I’m not keeping up there, I follow you on everything else and it makes sense to me…

  17. Blisschick Says:

I just listening to the bliss meditation and a couple of interesting tidbits (that you are probably aware of):

In the middle ages, a lot of Marian art had her standing with an intense ray of light coming out of her heart chakra. (then the reformation and various other things happened and much of that art was destroyed.)

Also, Mary was/is referred to as a “Doorway…”

  18. Blisschick Says:

Excuse my typos…I hate when that happens! :)

  19. Mon Says:

Just did these except the last. Have I over-chakrad myself this morning? lol

I have several things to say but might be too much here.

I have never done chakra meditation, but I found the connection to earth and ‘up’, powerful.
I struggled with the lotus holding my reproductive organs bit, lol
I hadn’t realised I was supposed to be connecting the chakras, and that added an oomph when I did that.

Thank you SO much. These are great. I’m going to try them again in the mornings, nice boost after a sleepless night. ;)

  20. mommymystic Says:

Mon – thanks for the feedback, especially about not knowing you were supposed to connect the chakras, as I am thinking I will do new ones at some point without all the narrative (just straight guided meditation), and that’s a good point to emphasize. I don’t think you can over-chakra yourself with these particular techniques, but if you feel like you are too spacey, give it a rest! As for it being a nice boost after sleeplessness, yes, I think this may be just your ticket – as I think I might have mentioned at some point, lots of Eastern chakra/kundalini masters claim they don’t need sleep, or at least very little!

  21. Miruh Says:

Lisa, thanks for taking the time to make this generous offering of love. Your voice is comforting and healing to listen to. I will download them and play with them later.

  22. Evelyn Lim Says:

    Hey Lisa,

I finally told myself that I just have to make the time to listen to your audios. I just did to one of them. I’m in the midst of downloading the rest.

Wow….you’ve got an amazing voice! You make a great teacher! Keep up your good work!

Thanks for providing the mp3s for free!

    Namaste
