About

Welcome. My name is Lisa Erickson, and I am a trauma-informed energy worker, mindfulness and chakra meditation instructor, and author. My primary modality is chakra-based energy work, although I am also a certified mindfulness meditation instructor. My specialty is Women’s Energetics – women’s subtle anatomy, and practices and tools that women can employ to heal, empower, and awaken themselves. I also specialize in sexual trauma healing for both men and women.

My two books Chakra Empowerment for Women: Self-Guided Techniques for Healing Trauma, Owning Your Power & Finding Overall Wellness and The Art and Science of Meditation: How to Deepen and Personalize Your Practice, both from Llewellyn Publishing, may be ordered on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, IndieBound and Llewelyn. The book website and corresponding web seminar may also be found at Chakra Empowerment For Women.

Although I have created the energy tools I currently use myself, I draw on many different healing traditions including the work of healer and author Cyndi Dale, with whom I have trained. I am a certified Feeding Your Demons facilitator through Lama Tsultrim Allione. I have trained in a variety of other healing modalities, as well as in trauma-sensitivity. I  have meditated for over 30 years, and trained extensively in astrology, yoga, and martial arts. I am a member of several related professional organizations, including the Energy Medicine Professionals Association, the International Association of Meditation Instructors, and the American Holistic Health Association. I am also a provider through The Breathe Network, an organization dedicated to offering holistic, trauma-sensitive resources for survivors of sexual abuse and assault.

Here at Mommy Mystic I write about these topics as well as many others, including interviews with contemporary women teachers and healers, historical women mystics, healing from trauma and abuse, spiritual parenting, and books on all of the above. I also offer private energy work phone sessions, teleseminars, classes and retreats. You can read more about all of these at my website, Enlightened Energetics. If you are specifically interested in trauma healing work, you can read more about that at The Breathe Network.

I love to connect and share information on all of these topics, so please comment, and/or connect at Facebook,Instagram, Twitter or Goodreads as well. I tend to write long, in-depth posts and so I only post here 2-3 times a month. Please subscribe by email or RSS to be notified when new posts are available. If you are interested in classes or private sessions, please go to my teaching website, Enlightened Energetics.

As for other places to find me, I am currently doing many podcast and online radio interviews to discuss Chakra Empowerment For Women. You can find many of these on my social media pages, or on the Media Page of the book website.

Peace!

    Hi there!

A Google Search served up your recommended reading list, and since I believe in connecting the dots of my life, I wanted to take the time to say thank you.

As my Mom used to say about my appetite “your eyes are bigger than your stomach” (oh, hell, my stomach has now caught up!), my appetite for a good Summer read is outweighing my time. It will all balance out…one day!

    Thanks again!

Hi. Just discovered Chopra’s wonderful book about Jesus and was reading your comment at Amazon. I appreciate your views.

I started my journey in northern california, in the Bay Area. Was raised in an academic home that was skeptical of “unconventional” wisdom. Have come a long way, thanks to God.

Hi Lisa – your recent blog about Fingerprints of God brought me to your site. The book looks very interesting, I will be sure to read it. I also found your site very informative and I am now following you on twitter. I would love for you to check out our new fertility program http://www.circlebloom.com. It leverages mind/body to help women with fertility issues. It also allows women to use their spirituality to help them through a very stressful time. I noticed you had a section on parenting, but not the journey of conception, something you might want to consider. Any help you can give on spreading the word about our new program would be appreciated!

    Best,

Susan, the area you are covering is so valuable. I am past that stage myself, so I haven’t focused on it much here, but I know meditation has been shown to help with some fertility issues, and certainly self-care is so important during fertility treatments and pregnancy. I applaud your efforts, and good luck.

This is a great blog! I applaud your effort to provide resources.
You might want to add my recently published adult fiction novel “The Kitten Burglar” to your list. Although the primary purpose of the work is to provide an entertaining yarn, the underlying message is a call to seek one’s own spiritual path.
You can read what people think of it by looking at the kind reviews appearing on Amazon.com and .ca and on Barnes & Noble. Search for “The Kitten Burglar.”

  40. November 16, 2011 11:07 pm

Hi Lisa, thanks so much for your lovely comment on my blog. I am subscribed to yours and love it! One of the reasons I ended that particular blog is because I am moving towards using more sound therapy in my work, which is something I have been interested in for the entire 30 years I have been a teacher of singing. I have looked many times into music therapy programs, but academia does not have what I want to do. So our work will sort of dove tail, no? Have a blessed winter season and I will keep in touch!

  41. November 17, 2011 1:37 am

Cate, that is wonderful to hear – if you start to write on sound therapy please let me know! Interestingly I was just considering doing Jonathan Goldman’s Sound Healing Correspondance course – are you familiar with his work? I reviewed his CD Tantra of Sound Harmonizer recently at BellaOnline and just love is work. His website is http://www.healingsounds.com/

I’ve been reading your posts for so long this morning I’ve lost track of time. Your articles are very intuitive and educational. For the second time in my life God has sequestered me and put upon me the idea I’m supposed to be leading, prophesying, and teaching spiritually, (and for me Spiritual means a convergence of practices from all over the world and possibly beyond our physical world). Since this is the second time this has happened to me I feel an urgency to follow through. Our world is changing rapidly and though I don’t personally believe the world is ending this year, I do think it is changing more dramatically than ever before. I also believe people like you and I and many others are called to lead, teach and comfort the ones who don’t understand, don’t believe or refuse to consider due to lack of knowledge and fear.

I so agree with everything you wrote in that thread about the energy of power places, and how someone has to learn to work with it or will be ‘thrown out’ in some sense. I will check out your tag post – I don’t always do those at this point because there are so many out there and I’ve done them a lot in the past, but I appreciate the sentiment. To be honest, I believe one of my previous lives was during that time period. It’s just a gut instinct, but obviously it was pretty much confirmed in my dream!

  52. April 30, 2012 10:01 pm

Yes, I believe the same thing for myself. There are many (including me) that feel there is a karmic connection/return going on in this period of history for many of us that taught in temples and the like at that time. It has to do with how that civilization crumbled by the abuse of power, both political and occult, and there is a chance to ‘correct’ some of that now…perhaps too long a discussion for a blog comment, but maybe I will post on it sometime, it’s all very interesting! Anyway, it means for anyone who does have a karmic connection with that time, particularly a spiritual one, there is likely to be dreams, visions, or intuitions related to that time, as our inner work now is very connected to it…

I would love to hear more, as I’ve felt an emotional “pull” to that time period ever since I can remember. If you could post or forward me links for research on the subject I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much for connecting and sharing with me! This is so exciting and fascinating! I always felt I was the only one that felt this way and would love to learn more from you and others who share the same connection.

Dear Lisa, Great to come across your site. I discovered it through your list of spiritual books for kids on amazon.com. Like you, I have an eclectic blend of spirituality, combining Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, pantheism, yoga, meditation, feminine spirituality, etc. I’m also a SoulCollage facilitator and owner of Sunshine Coast SoulCollage in the Pacific Northwest in Canada.

I am author of a picture book, Gracie’s Got a Secret (graciesgotasecret.com), which helps children learn the concept of letting go, going with the flow, helping others, and following their dream. You can find out more at graciesgotasecret.com. I thought that you might like to add the book to your list, if it intrigues you.

My name is Lori Rubin. I just released a book my children/adult book about loving yourself, called “Journey To Your Big Heart.”
The book is illustrated by my 20 yr. old daughter, Shylee. As a team we co-created a beautiful and easily digestable book to teach
children, and remind adults, that loving yourself first is the most important step you can take to creating an abundance of love universally.
    My info is below…
    I’m also on Facebook.
Would love to send you a book.
How can I get a copy to you?

  81. November 6, 2013 1:41 pm

Dear Lisa, This is so funny! I could copy the email above. I love your site too for many reasons the wonderful books for children which I found by doing a google search, your chakra and energy work and your focus on women. As I create a resource and gift page on my site DiamondPathways.com I would like to put your site and highlight something. If you have something you would like me to point to I would be happy to do that. I was also looking for a place to contact you about a children’s book I wrote called AngelViolet’s Magic Wings for children between 4-8 about feelings and how you sparkle from your heart. I would love to connect with the woman above. I really want to create resources and support those on the same path.

  82. November 8, 2013 8:59 pm

    Hi Lisa,

My name is Lance McCulloch and I am the author of The Colors of Blue. As you see, I writing in the hope that you will consider reading and reviewing my novel. I have read some of your recent reviews and believe you will enjoy my story. Although romance, this is a story of love, loss, and discovery. It is an emotional journey of the human spirit.

The Amazon reviews have been outstanding, but there are far too few of them. I am very conscious of the time and effort each read and review takes, and therefore hope that I can convince you that it will be time well spent. To this, I’ve included several of the reviews in the body of this message. Also, sample chapters, an overview, and other information can be seen at http://www.thecolorsofbue.com/

Thank you for your time and any consideration you may give to The Colors of Blue. If you decide to give it a try, I can gift the book to you via Amazon, directly send you a digital copy, or provide you with a hard copy. Also, if you review digitally and decide you would like a hard copy afterword, I would be more than happy to send that along.

    Thank you,

    Lance

    The Reviews:

“Well, knock me over with a feather. This was the tearjerker to top all tearjerkers so far this year. I should have bought stock in tissues. These are the most honest characters that I’ve read this year. My heart really broke for Rick. I was as proud of his accomplishments as his mother would have been. I’m almost sorry to say that Greg couldn’t have been written more horrid. Wow! But Sarah, she was so special. There just aren’t words enough to explain her. I’ve never heard of people who could see colors other than auras. I would like to think there are people who can. The time apart for Sarah and Rick made the whole book. If it just went to being together it would have been a hollow ending. This should be a mandatory read.”

    Celticmaggie

“The Colors of Blue is a beautiful romance whose characters make you believe in the promise of true love and second chances. The setting in the spectacular majesty of the San Juan Mountains and the Tres Piedras River, took me back to Chama Valley – like a wonderful vacation with new friends. I know nothing about fly fishing, but feel like I could go right out and catch a fish after reading this book.

The main characters – Sara Field and Rick Wheeler are well developed. You feel like you know and understand them. Sara is a remarkable heroine. She was sweet. You wanted to root for her. You wanted her to have a “happily ever after.” The secondary characters are like friends you have known all your life. The story grabs you and holds on until the end. I didn’t want to put the book down. I actually skipped dinner and lost sleep while reading this book. It was that compelling and brought forth intense emotion. Thank you, Lance McCulloch for a fun and emotional journey. I did not want to leave. That is the mark of a 5 star read for me. I recommend!”

    Sandra Galley

“I really recommend this novel, and it should appeal to a wide range of readers. First, it’s a wonderful story about re-discovering your “true colors”. The characters are a diverse group, ranging from Type A businessmen to the mellow and wise ranch caretaker and his wife, and we watch them interact, grow, and in some cases redeem themselves during the course of the story. Second, the setting is a timeless ranch in southwestern Colorado, and McCulloch explores how the beauty of nature can influence how we perceive ourselves and others. And third, this book is about fly fishing, from funny passages on teaching beginners, to the metaphysical aspects of the sport, ala The River Why and a River Runs through It. Any fly-fisherman would love to spend a day on this river!

I do have one warning. I couldn’t put the book down, and stayed up late reading it for two nights. So be prepared for a fun, emotional, and uplifting read.”

    Hi LIsa,
I couldn’t find the thread where we were talking about the children’s book Angel Violet’s Magic Wings that I wrote. You asked if it was in a digital form and it is on Kindle and ibook and is in the Amazon Store as well as on AngelVioletsMagicWings.com. It has really been a hit with both parents and children helping them with feelings and giving them a tools to cope and thrive. I would love if your readers would have a change to meet Angel Violet.

I put your sites as favorites on the resource pages at DiamondPathways.com/Resources/ as well as on the books pages.

    Thanks for sharing this Lisa.

  89. January 6, 2014 4:25 am

Thanks Bonnie, I do have Angel Violet’s Magic Wings on my list…I’ve had to cut back on the number of book reviews and features that I do, because of time constraints and the reduced number of postings I am doing here these days (I am typically doing just 1-2 longer articles a month, with occasional ‘share’ posts which is when I list books…) So I hope to get to it soon, as it looks wonderful! Good luck with it in the meantime…

  90. January 6, 2014 1:31 pm

Lisa, Thank you for adding AngelViolet’s Magic Wings to your list! 🙂 I look forward to your feedback!

    Hi

I’m Elaine Pereira, author of the award winning memoir I Will Never Forget-A Daughter’s Story of Her Mother’s Arduous and Humorous Journey Through Dementia.

I found you on Amazon’s Top Reviewers and, although your book preference might not extend to memoirs, you will probably find my mother’s incredible story quite inspiring. My mother was very spiritual and would have particularly connected with your endeavors.

If you decide to review my book I would be happy to send you a paper copy (preferred) or ebook.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I can send more information about the book if you’d like, but I didn’t want to over saturate you initially.

  92. January 21, 2014 6:51 pm

Hi Elaine, your book sounds wonderful and as our parents age I know this is something so many of us deal with. Unfortunately I have had to cut back on reviews, and have a big backlog as well as other projects, so it’s just not a focus of mine at this time. But thank you for offering and good luck! – Lisa

    Hi
I am curious as to whether you have ever seen a link with speech problems such as stuttering and blocked throat chakras?

  101. December 1, 2014 5:32 pm

Hi Australind, I have not personally worked with clients on this, although one of my children does have a speech impediment, so I have some experience with that in that context, and yes, the throat chakra is associated with the mouth, so energetically this is one of the chakras that you would want to work with on healing, clearing and strengthening for speech issues. However, there are so many different types of speech issues, some are physically based (i.e. mouth anatomical issues) and some are at least partly psychological (i.e. stress induced or anxiety based.) In the case of those that seem to have a strong psychological correlation, you would also want to work energetically in the area associated with those fears and anxieties. That is going to be different for each person, but I would think the navel and heart would very often be involved, since the navel (third chakra) correlates to our self-esteem and identity, and our sense of place in the world (or lack of a sense of place) and our heart has to do with relationships in general, as well as fears related to vulnerability. Honestly, there are rarely any issues that just correlate to one chakra – we are complex beings and the mind-body spectrum is all interrelated.
if you haven’t already seen them you may want to check out my free chakra meditations at Meditate Like a Girl, they are all listed on my chakra page by chakra:
    https://mommymystic.wordpress.com/chakras/

  102. March 19, 2015 4:10 pm

Hello Lisa, I’ve been trying to download your mp3 file for the throat chakra meditation but none of the links I found seems to work. is there any other way i could access it? thank you!

  105. July 3, 2015 9:58 am

    Dear Lisa,

I hope you can help me! I have completed your course about feminine energy and I’m now going through the different books you recommend it.

    I found out I’m pregnant…and horribly…I don’t have any maternal instinct.

I’m 41, I don’t have kids and I think I should know right away if I really wanted one.

My husband and I have been reckless and are now left facing this huge mess.

My question to you is : can light workers choose to abort and still support others? I’m a holistic life coach, I always felt my life is to support others, and after going through many tough moments due to doubts, culture, shame we then decided we are happy as we are and feel really blessed to be able to pursue our dreams.
How can I even think I deserve to support others if I choose to abort? But I don’t feel anything in my heart, I know if I go on and have this baby it’d be only to make my mum happy, to honor my late father’s memory and to please my friends.

I’m sorry to burden you with such a question, but I care so much about my path and I just feel I’ll never be able to serve others……I know I must face this but how can I be light if I’m choosing so much darkness?

PS Could you tell me what chakras to work on and if I can connect to the soul of the fetus by myself?

  106. July 3, 2015 4:46 pm

Hi Antonia, this is such a personal decision, but I really honor you having the courage to ask it here. Since my answer to this is rather long, I am going to answer you by email instead. If you don’t receive the email, please let me know here. Thanks- Lisa

I Mommy Mystic. I tap into your blog on a fairly regular basis and enjoy your posts. I did want to let you know, and your followers, that I have a book out titled: “Sophia’s Web: A Passionate Call to Heal Our Wounded Nature.” The url for the website is: http://www.envisionthismedia.com/sophia-s-web

I thought your followers would like to know about a new book on spirituality.

HOW DO I KNOW GOD LOVES ME? is a book for which every parent of a spiritual or sensitive child has been waiting and needs to purchase. We want our kids to be happy — to understand and appreciate their uniqueness, strength and unlimited potential. We want our children to love and respect themselves, others and the world in which they live. This book is a tool to that end.

The book speaks directly to the child and answers the questions already on his mind; questions such as Why am I here?, Do I have a purpose? How do I handle bullies?

A child’s confidence, self-esteem and belief in his or her abilities soar after reading the book. When a parent or mentor reads HOW DO I KNOW GOD LOVES ME? with a child, surprising and open conversations result.

I am a mom. I wrote this book for kids to keep by their beds to refer to when they need spiritual guidance (spiritual – not religious) or emotional support. I also hoped it would be used as a bonding tool for parents and mentors.
I believe in this book. It was a true labor of love.

  109. November 11, 2015 12:53 am

Melanie, thanks for sharing, you may want to post this in the comments of my children’s spiritual book list as more people will find it there:

    Hi Lisa,

I found your Buddhist fiction list on Amazon and found it really useful. I noticed, however, that you didn’t have my books listed and since they’re books that anyone looking for Buddhist fiction would really enjoy, I thought you should know about them.

You can see all my titles here. http://tahlianewland.com/shop/

The ones to add to your list are The Diamond Peak series (YA fantasy – an analogy for the path to enlightenment) You Can’t Shatter Me, (YA on the Buddhist approach to dealing with a bully) A Hole in the Pavement (A short story) and Worlds Within Worlds – a metaphysical thriller.

If you’d like a free review copy of any of these books, please do ask.

Hi Tahlia, I am interested interested in review copies of the YA books if you have any – contact me on the form through this page on the site if so:

My wife and I have discovered a little spot in a park near our house that buzzes with energy. I have taken to visit it a couple times a day to connect with it. Sometimes I have met deer there and a couple times coyote! After a while, it seemed that there was a presence there that was glad we were there. However, it is not always there. Sometimes it feels like hide and seek.what is interesting is we seem to
have similar perceptions, like “Strong today,” or, “Not much tonight.”

Anyway, we feel as though we have made a friend somehow.

    Hello

I just wanted to thank you. I got assaulted two years ago by my boss. I said nothing for two years and it was hell, I got so low at the end of 2017 that my family was worried. Short story long, I finally told what happened. People used the word “sexual aggression” which I never even considered. It was a big revelation to me both making me deeply sad but also relieving. I am starting to see a therapist, I started to take care of my body again and I wanted to work on specific meditations to try to heal the other parts of myself (and fingers crossed I am hopefully changing jobs soon). When I saw that ebook it almost brought tears to me. I will follow the program and hopefully I’ll be a stronger person afterwards more aligned and at peace with all of that. Thank you so much for what you have done. At a time like I am going through I am so happy we live in a connected world with so nice people….

Hi, I found your blog while looking up spiritual blogs, and then saw chakras. I wrote a fiction, The Color of Cold and Ice, based on the chakras. It came about because of my love of art, Van Gogh, and because my husband and I were taking a course on the cold with Wim Hof.

A Thursday Child, Sounds wonderful, good luck with it. I’m not reviewing children’s books here anymore as my kids have aged out of them, but it’s wonderful to hear more and more relevant books are being created for kids.

    Hi Lisa
I haven’t read much about Chakras before, but I am currently training to become a Doula and I feel that it is very relevant to part of my journey. I have found your blogs fascinating and have printed off pages and pages to read through, specifically related to the sacral chakra and the mother-child energy connection which I feel I need to do some work on as I definitely feed of my three children’s energies and find it overwhelming at times as I don’t often feel I have the right balance.

On a separate note, my husband suffered sexual abuse as a child. He had a lot of therapy after it happened which helped him hugely. I still feel that he needs help and was wondering if there is some work he and I could do or I could maybe talk to him about with regards to the chakras. Would it be the root chakra that would be best to be worked on? I don’t know how he will feel about it but I thought if I had the information for him at least that would be a start.

    Blessings.

  123. May 2, 2019 7:25 pm

Hi Caroline, thanks so much for writing. Yes I think you will find a lot of connections between the sacral chakra and your doula work. Let me know if you have any questions. I will be writing more on this in the future too. In terms of your husband I do have a free ebook he could work with – it is geared towards women but many men have adapted it for themselves too. You will find it in the right sidebar. Especially in terms of the root chakra the work is very similar for men and women. If the chakras resonate for him I do private phone sessions as well. If not, there are many other modalities and it is very individual what works for each person. I recommend checking out thebreathenetwork.org (The Breathe Network) – a nonprofit dedicated to holistic resources for sexual trauma survivors – they have a practitioner list and many good articles and programs. Blessings, Lisa

Hi Lisa, thank you so much for responding. I will look at the Breathe Network and also your free ebook. I haven’t spoken to him about any of this recently so I need to find the right time. I’m not sure the Chakras do resonate with him so it might be about finding something else which does. I just feel that the trauma still holds him back in certain situations when meeting new people and also sexually. Thank you for your help.

    Blessings

Hi Lisa! I came across you when I googled Spiritual Books for Children .. I was attempting to find out how other people were marketing their books and noticed you had a list online of recommendations. I have just published my book, The Secret of The Lost Song of Joy, and I was delighted to be awarded Angel Book Of The Year Award, by popular UK Magazine ‘Soul and Spirit’. I illustrated this book myself and I believe it comes from a place of simple Truth and Unity Consciousness. I am a teacher of meditation and also worked as an Instructor for kids with special needs. I would love to send you a copy of my book as a gift, and if you like it, perhaps you will recommend it. You can also find it on my website helenamoon.therapies.co.uk
I am really interested to read of all the wonderful work you are doing. Thanks so much for making time to read this. In love and light

Lisa – I can’t thank you enough for your work. Your DailyOm course is changing my life, particularly the perimenopause meditation for energy stabilization. Thanks for all of your great work – very inspiring.

That’s wonderful to hear Mona, I appreciate you sharing. I hope you’ll look at my book Chakra Empowerment for Women too, as it covers some things not covered in the course. Blessings- Lisa
