New Year’s Gratitude GIVEAWAY – 3 Amazing Books for YOU

December 18, 2013

As has become tradition the last few years, I am giving away three of my favorite books of 2013, as a big THANK YOU for your readership, support, business, and general lightness of being. This is for the comments, Facebook shares (which I’ve never been able to track to thank you in FB!), tweets, course sign-ups, referrals, and most importantly, your dedication to healing and seeking, which I feel honored to be a part of in some way, however small. All you need to do to be entered is leave a comment with a wish for 2014.

I remember talking to an obstetrician a few years back, who had recently started her own family, and from a schedule perspective really wanted to cut back on the number of births she attended, so that she could keep more regular office hours. But she just couldn’t do it. “Being present for births just never gets old.” she said, “It’s always a miracle. I can’t give it up. It’s such a privilege to play a role in it.”

This is how I feel about the work that I get to do now. To play a role in someone’s healing and spiritual journey is such a privilege. Each time someone shares an insight, or experiences a healing moment, or settles more deeply into their true awareness, I feel as if I am witnessing something miraculous. It is the light within that person pushing through barriers and limitations, rising up and expanding. It deepens my own faith and sense of connection. It never gets old.

Without fail I feel myself awed by the individual, and by the resilience of the human spirit. Our deepest self never stops wanting to grow towards the light. We often feel the opposite, and I have worked with many people who have experienced some of the worst humanity has to offer. But the light is always present too, in our desire to heal, and in our ability to do so. It gives me hope.

I have liked many books this year, so which to include was a tough call. In the end I let my intuition choose which ones to offer (close seconds were Dakini Power and Wonder, both featured in posts this year – you can check them out yourself if you haven’t already.) In the end, I think each of the ones I chose has something unique to offer, and together they represent the models for much of the work I personally do:

awakeningshaktiAwakening Shakti: The Transformative Power of the Goddesses of Yoga, Sally Kempton. This outstanding contribution to divine feminine literature will help you awaken your inner Lakshmi, Kali, Durga, Parvati, Saraswati, and more. Part folklore, part how-to, part spiritual memoir, each chapter in this book covers a different Hindu goddess, bringing her alive for you, and showing you how to awaken what she represents within yourself. Sally’s anecdotes from her own spiritual journey are insightful and empowering.

SubtleBodyPracticeManualThe Subtle Body Practice Manual: A Comprehensive Guide to Energy Healing, Cyndi Dale. This companion to her best-selling Subtle Body Encyclopedia offers exercises and techniques you can try on your own to access the power of energy healing. In one class that I took with her, Cyndi said that it was part of her personal mission statement to make energy healing teachings accessible to anyone, and this book continues her work in this regard (though established energy healers will find much to like too.)

FeedingYourDemonsFeeding Your Demons: Ancient Wisdom for Resolving Inner Conflict, Lama Tsultrim Allione. Although this book is not a 2013 release, it feels right to include it, as it has been such a big part of my own year. I have been pursuing certification to be a facilitator of the Feeding Your Demons process, attending two retreats at the beautiful Tara Mandala this year (Lama Tsultrim’s retreat center), and completing 108 demon-feedings of my own (many with partners, and if you were one of them – THANK YOU!) So many people feel their lives have changed through this book and/or process, so I am excited to share it here, and hope to share the process with some of you as a facilitator in 2014.

So to enter to win one of these wonderful books, just comment below, sharing a wish for 2014 – personal or worldly, whatever you like. A few notes:

  • Anonymous comments are fine, although I do need your email to notify you if you win (it will not show on the post, and won’t be used for anything else.)
  • You cannot choose what book you win – you will have to trust the universe:-)
  • You CAN choose the format you wish to receive the book in – digital or print – I will check with you when I notify you if you’ve won.
  • Winners will be drawn on New Year’s Day, one by each of my three kids, and I will post the winners here, in addition to notifying winners by email.

I look forward to reading your wishes for 2014. And again, thank you! Namaste-

My wish for 2014 would be…hmmm this is harder than I thought. I have everything I need, and I don’t want for much else. I’m no longer interested in saving the world or those in it, and I think everything is working just as it is supposed to be working. I’m content most of the time, and relatively happy. I’m in a good place in my life…so I guess my wish would be that 2014 would be even better than 2013!

For 2014, I intend to continue my practices of staying present as much as i can, of being one with life, of non-judgementally observing myself and others and gratefully receiving everything that life has in plan for me. I wrote INTEND and not WISH, because I felt it closer to what I wanted to express. Love, peace and wisdom to everyone ! And a heartfelt THANK YOU for your existence, Lisa ! πŸ™‚

The most amazing thing I learnt while in Tibet form the Tibetan people is, that peace, love and understanding comes from working and standing together, no matter what happens to us, knowledge from a book can give us the power to stand together shelter each other, as the Tibetan’s do, not just looking after their own but for all! Anything that brings me evan the smallest bit closer to the Dalai Lama’s beautiful Buddhist way of life, their strength, their wisdon, is a wonderful thing, and the beauty of a book is that you can then pass it on, it is not to be kept, but to enlighten all:0)

Hello there everyone. My wish for 2014 is to make volunteering a bigger part of my life. I’m all the time seeing events on TV that I would love to participate in but don’t feel I have the time. In 2014, I’m going to make the time πŸ™‚

  32. December 23, 2013 3:05 am

My wish for myself and for everyone in 2014 is to get in touch with our true identity- not the mind-based roles we wear in society, but the eternal one that shows us our connection to the whole and enables us to use our intuition to function harmoniously with all beings in the spirit of peace, love and unity! Let’s focus on our center and manifest goodness outward. Namaste.

I’ve had an incredibly difficult year and I’ve been alone with no family or friends for support on top of it. So I had a choice between sinking into depression or reaching deep and being the source of my own inspiration and I’ve done pretty darn well at making it the latter. I’ve made gradual improvements in my overall health, I’ve kicked harmful habits, I’ve returned to meditating, I’ve taken an online course, and I’ve really worked hard at nurturing my mind and soul. I finally feel like things are coming together, even though I’m still amidst such difficulty. This is a strangely wonderful feeling, to be happy despite such great challenges – instead of waiting for things to get better before feeling better.

I have put some positive intentions out there daily and the universe is yielding some wonderful surprises back. I’ve read some books, found some websites (this one included) and made some personal discoveries that all seem like signs that I am going in the right direction, and that things will be okay and that I’ll even be better for it.

So my wish for 2014 is that others find the same place within themselves that I am gradually finding. A place of safety even in chaos, happiness despite sickness, serenity despite loss. I wish for everyone to be their own light, shining from within even if no one is there to be illuminated but themselves. I wish everyone the feeling of taking comfort in yourself, and the feeling of joy from ‘just being’.

The thing I need the most this New Year is family peace within our circle. There have been generations of disturbances and the forces of it have been unbearable at times. This entities tied to it are hard to resist and have caused great falls among many. I wish for the support of others, a combination of great positive energies to overcome these disturbances so that the next generation can have a chance at receiving, believing in, and experiencing the greatness that the gift of peace can bring so that they too can exuberate the peace to others to come. Peace is what one told me….this was all he wanted before he died this past year of illness and of addiction…peace is what I will fight for. Amen.
