About
Hi, my name is Lisa Erickson, and I am a meditation teacher and mom to three. Mommy Mystic is my way of combining two of my abiding loves – motherhood and all things mystic/occult/metaphysical/spiritual. In that sense, this blog isn’t either a solely personal or professional blog, but a combination of both. I try and post weekly on one of my main topics: Spirituality, Parenting, Metaphysics, Chakras, Women Mystics, or Books. Many of my posts focus in on issues of particular relevance to women seekers. I also try and do a more personal month-in-review post.
I love to connect with others on any of these topics, so please comment and/or email me at lameditation – (at) – earthlink – (dot) – net (this is of course the de-spammable version!) You can also subscribe by email or RSS (be sure to note whether or not you want comments included in your subscription.)
As for other places to find me, I write weekly about Buddhism for BellaOnline, if you are interested in that, and maintain an Amazon store of my recommended books, as well as doing frequent reviews there. I’m on Twitter and StumbleUpon, but so far have avoided Facebook (if you want to talk me into it, give it a go:-) Otherwise, you will often find me at some of my favorite blogs, all listed in the side bar. If you are in southern CA and want to check out my meditation classes, you can learn more about those at www.TheMaatInstitute.com.
Enjoy and Namaste-

Hi there!
A Google Search served up your recommended reading list, and since I believe in connecting the dots of my life, I wanted to take the time to say thank you.
As my Mom used to say about my appetite “your eyes are bigger than your stomach” (oh, hell, my stomach has now caught up!), my appetite for a good Summer read is outweighing my time. It will all balance out…one day!
Thanks again!

Hi, I am excited to have found your blog. I love the blending of motherhood and mysticism. Have you read Tsultrim Allione’s Women of Wisdom? I am in a women’s spirituality M.A. program and I am hoping you also might be interested in my two women’s spirituality blogs:

Nice “meeting” you,

Hi Elizabeth, Great to meet you and I will definitely check out your blogs. I have read Women of Wisdom and in fact am thinking of reviewing it for BellaOnline.com where I am the Buddhism editor, even though it is not a new book, because it is so great. Come back and visit soon!
Lisa, the energy that resonates here reveals you are in a fulfilling series of niches that interconnect and compliment one another. I am grateful to have found this blog after having read some of your insightful comments that inspire readers in the timeless blogosphere. May physical life experience continue to encourage you to stretch, teach and grow.
Hi. Just discovered Chopra’s wonderful book about Jesus and was reading your comment at Amazon. I appreciate your views.
I started my journey in northern california, in the Bay Area. Was raised in an academic home that was skeptical of “unconventional” wisdom. Have come a long way, thanks to God.

Thanks Julie, this is the 2nd time in a week that Mamapedia has come to my attention, so I will definitely check it out.
Hi Lisa – your recent blog about Fingerprints of God brought me to your site. The book looks very interesting, I will be sure to read it. I also found your site very informative and I am now following you on twitter. I would love for you to check out our new fertility program http://www.circlebloom.com. It leverages mind/body to help women with fertility issues. It also allows women to use their spirituality to help them through a very stressful time. I noticed you had a section on parenting, but not the journey of conception, something you might want to consider. Any help you can give on spreading the word about our new program would be appreciated!
Best,
Susan Cooke
Susan, the area you are covering is so valuable. I am past that stage myself, so I haven’t focused on it much here, but I know meditation has been shown to help with some fertility issues, and certainly self-care is so important during fertility treatments and pregnancy. I applaud your efforts, and good luck.
Thank you for the encouraging words!
Hello Lisa,
I’d like to invite you to take a sneak peek at our online community for Kum Nye Yoga — based on ancient Tibetan mind/body energy work, regular practice of Kum Nye has been found to release energy blockages and facilitate a deeper meditation practice. Try it out for free with an online class at http://www.kumnyeyoga.com
I saw your twitter. I am sending you and your family lots of light and love. I hope you are all feeling better soon. Don’t worry about your blog. We’ll still be here when you are ready to return. Take your time.
Sending you healing energy,
Melinda Pajak

Hi, Lisa! Just leaving a comment to let you know I sent you an email. I’m hoping it doesn’t get routed to your spam box!
Hi Lisa,
This is a great blog! I applaud your effort to provide resources.
You might want to add my recently published adult fiction novel “The Kitten Burglar” to your list. Although the primary purpose of the work is to provide an entertaining yarn, the underlying message is a call to seek one’s own spiritual path.
You can read what people think of it by looking at the kind reviews appearing on Amazon.com and .ca and on Barnes & Noble. Search for “The Kitten Burglar.”
You can find out more about me and why I wrote it on johnaburnham.wordpress.com
I cannot find your email or contact info, so I am leaving this as a post. I wonder if you would be interested in doing an interview over email. My blog is here: How to Do Meditation – Learn, Sit, Meditate Deeply
I have been doing interviews that recognize any and every form of meditation from a personal experiential perspective. I have a number of them already posted. In fact, anyone reading this is welcome to contact me for one. I remain fascinated by the diverse experiences and believe this a great way of encouraging others who have yet to find their form.
Thanks and Namaste,
Benjamin
